First built in 1961, Torero Stadium is the home of the University of San Diego football and soccer programs and San Diego Loyal Soccer Club. The stadium, which underwent two phases of renovation, is perfect for an exciting soccer atmosphere inside its cozy confines. In the past few years, Torero has hosted multiple MLS and Liga MX friendly matches and other exciting sporting events. The current field size is 72 yards by 118 yards with natural Bandera Bermuda grass making it perfect for USL matches. 

In the summer of 2012, the stadium received a $250,000 field renovation including new Bandera Sports turf and a new drainage system in preparation to host the 2012 Women’s Soccer College Cup. In December of 2012, USD was the center of attention for the soccer world as they hosted the semifinal and NCAA championship games in women’s soccer becoming the first WCC school to host an NCAA national championship on its own campus.

The stadium also underwent renovations to host the WUSA San Diego Spirit. Over $3.5 million was spent to enlarge the seating areas and add spectator comforts. Torero Stadium capacity is now 6,000 for Pioneer Football League action, as well as West Coast Conference Soccer play.

The South stands feature approximately 1,100 seats with press box facilities. The stands behind the East end seat approximately 1,900 fans after Phase Two of renovation. The existing North stands hold about 3,000 fans. The South stands feature bleacher seats with backs for increased spectator comfort. The East and North stands are all bleacher seating.
