San Diego, CA (June 8, 2021) – Today, on World Oceans Day, San Diego Loyal SC (SD Loyal) announces their partnership with the Rob Machado Foundation to help encourage environmental and sustainability consciousness throughout the San Diego Coastline and beyond. SD Loyal—a purpose-driven organization whose mission is to help make San Diego a better place to live, work and play—will amplify the foundation’s mission through custom surfboard auctions, a July 8 beach cleanup and its newly formed “Coastline Crew”.
Beginning on June 17, an online auction will open showcasing three SD Loyal customized surfboards shaped and designed by surfing legend and environmental activist, Rob Machado, and Shaper Studios founder, Chris Clark. Proceeds from this auction will go towards the foundation’s water filtration initiative to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles. Winners will be announced on July 8 at the partners’ beach cleanup taking place at three locations across San Diego County’s 70 miles of coastline. To continue partnership efforts all summer long, SD Loyal debuts the “Coastline Crew”, a dedicated team of people that are passionate about the environment and will lead beach cleanups through the entire county regularly.
The Rob Machado Foundation was established in 2004 by Rob Machado, one of the world's most recognizable surfers as well as a committed environmentalist, to support environmental programs for youth in hopes to educate and empower young people to make sustainable choices.
