Striker earns honors for performance against Las Vegas Lights FC
SAN DIEGO (Oct. 17, 2023) – San Diego Loyal SC forward Adrien Perez was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for his performance in a 2-0 road win against Las Vegas Lights FC on Oct. 14.
Perez scored the second goal of the night in the 85th minute to seal the victory for SD Loyal in its final regular season match in club history. The 2023 regular season ended with SD Loyal clinching a home playoff match against Phoenix Rising FC after finishing No. 3 in the Western Conference standings. Perez found the net when he slotted a shot from the right side of the penalty area after sprinting and dribbling upfield.
Perez was a major factor in the SD Loyal attack that also saw a goal from Tumi Moshobane early in the second half. Perez had four shots overall in the win against Las Vegas while completing 14 of 16 passes and winning 8 of 11 duels and 2 of 2 tackles defensively. The versatile forward finished the regular season with 10 goals in his first year with SD Loyal.
This is the second time Perez has been named to the league’s Team of the Week. The Los Angeles native also earned a spot on July 18 for his work in a 5-0 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on July 14.
