Striker comes to San Diego after playing with D.C. United
SAN DIEGO (Feb. 23, 2023) – San Diego Loyal SC announced today it has acquired Adrien Perez for the upcoming 2023 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.
Perez becomes the fourth offseason acquisition for SD Loyal this offseason, joining Elliot Collier, Joe Corona and Blake Bodily. The 27-year old joins Head Coach Miller’s squad in time for the season opener March 11 at home against Detroit City FC after spending the last two seasons with Major League Soccer side D.C. United. The striker played the first three matches of 2022 for D.C. United before suffering a foot injury that kept him out the rest of the season.
Perez joined D.C. United in January of 2021 after being selected in the 2020 MLS re-entry draft. The Ontario, Calif. native made 17 appearances (10 starts), recording two assists in 869 minutes played.
Before signing with D.C. United, the forward played with Los Angeles FC from 2019-2020. He appeared in nine matches (two starts) with LAFC in 2020. Perez started his MLS career with LAFC when he was signed on Feb. 21, 2019 from the Ontario Fury of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL).
