SAN DIEGO (August 3, 2022) — Today, San Diego Loyal SC and Armstrong & Associates announced a new partnership with Marine Corps Community Services’ youth soccer program on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar. The partnership will include a virtual coaching clinic for the program’s volunteer coaches, SD Loyal player experiences and recognition at an SD Loyal home match. The collaboration with MCAS Miramar is part of SD Loyal’s Mission Gratitude initiative presented by Armstrong & Associates, to celebrate and support active duty, veteran and retired military members and their families.
“As a Navy child who grew up playing sports on base through programs like this, I know how important they are in helping military kids deal with the stress of frequent moves and deployed parents,” said SD Loyal Military Community Outreach Coordinator and retired Navy Captain Russ Thompson. “We are thrilled to partner with Armstrong & Associates to provide financial support and next level resources to all the volunteer coaches, participants and families.”
As co-title sponsors of the MCAS Youth Soccer Program, SD Loyal and Armstrong & Associates will be predominantly featured on all youth jerseys as well as the program training and game fields. To kick off the partnership, SD Loyal First Team Academy goalkeeper Duran Ferree was on hand at the annual Skills Assessment, where 300+ youth participants gathered to test their skills before the start of the season, which runs from September 10 to October 29. With seven age divisions spread out through participants aged three-to-15, the recreational soccer league is one of several sports offered to children of military families who work or live on MCAS Miramar.
