Multiple positive tests for COVID-19 among Switchback FC’s covered persons
SAN DIEGO (May 12, 2022) – The USL Championship announced today that the match between San Diego Loyal SC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at Torero Stadium, has been canceled because of multiple positive tests for COVID-19 among Switchback FC’s covered persons.
“Our club has been working very hard for Saturday’s match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC,” SD Loyal Team President Ricardo Campos said. “We are disappointed in the decision to cancel the match and the impact it will have on our club and in our community.”
SD Loyal (6W-2L-2D) was slated to host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the first time in a battle between first and third place teams in the Western Conference. SD Loyal was coming off a 1-1 draw at New Mexico United last week, adding a point in the standings as it continues its best start in franchise history. Colorado Springs currently leads the Western Conference with an 8-0-1 record. It had won four of its last five matches including a 3-2 victory against Rio Grande Valley FC on May 5.
