SD Loyal Midfielder scored standout goal in win vs. El Paso
SAN DIEGO (April 5, 2022) – Midfielder Tumi Moshobane was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after helping SD Loyal to a 3-2 win against El Paso Locomotive FC in a Week 4 match on April 3.
Moshobane had a standout goal in the victory against the Western Conference rivals in which the South African blasted a one-timer past El Paso goalkeeper Evan Newton to give SD Loyal a 2-1 lead. Moshobane’s left-footed shot came off a flicked pass by Evan Conway. It was one for the highlight reels as it was nominated for Goal of the Week. It was also Moshobane’s first goal of the 2022 USL Championship season that has SD Loyal off to a franchise best 4-1 start.
The nifty and speedy midfielder has started in all five matches this season, playing in 386 minutes and has two assists. He was part of SD Loyal’s fluid attack in the first half of the match against El Paso as he ended the match with two shots and three chances created.
SD Loyal (4-1-0, 12 points) is preparing for a pair of matches this week. First is a second round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match at Albion San Diego tomorrow, April 6. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Canyon Crest Academy. Coach Landon Donovan’s team will then resume USL Championship action with a home match against Charleston Battery on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at Torero Stadium.
